Caroline Krebs has really hit the ground running: the technical product designer completed her apprenticeship at Weiss Technik in Balingen with excellent grades and shortened it by a year. Her passion is the design of special systems. "It's always exciting and never gets monotonous," says the 20-year-old from Balingen.
"There are always new requests from customers, which we take on carefully and with great interest and turn into reality with an individual and innovative design." This means that every customer gets exactly the climate chamber they need for their product tests. "But it's not just the variety of requests that makes our department so diverse, but also the many new designs." Krebs, who lives just a few streets away from the site in Balingen-Frommern, is completely in her element.
And because she is so passionate about apprenticeships at Weiss Technik, she wants to help more young people find out about the training and job opportunities in Balingen. She has therefore initiated a social media project and is now implementing it with apprentices.
"Starter of the year"
Krebs was selected by the jury as the outstanding apprentice of the 2022 graduating year as "Starter of the Year". So much motivation is rewarded at the Schunk Group. "You have really hit the ground running at Schunk and have shown above-average commitment to the company's success," said Gunthard Sommer, Chairman of the Board of the Ludwig Schunk Foundation, in recognition of the technical product designer. As "Starter", she can now drive an electric car for free for a year. This underlines the importance of apprenticeships at Schunk. This is now the fifth time that a "Starter of the year" has been honored.
Krebs is so enthusiastic about the subject of special design that she is keen to do more: She is currently catching up on her technical college entrance qualification via distance learning in order to soon begin a dual course of study in mechanical engineering at the "Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg" with the support of Schunk.
