Ultra Compact Front Loading Test Chambers

The Ultra Compact front loading 300L chamber from ascott is the perfect choice for customers who have limited floor area, and who only wish to test small or few components, in full compliance with international test standards. The Ultra Compact Front Loading Test Chambers are available in three versions: Standard Salt Spray Chamber, Premium Salt Spray Chamber, Cyclic Corrosion Test Chamber

That makes the front loading chamber unique.

Compact footprint with same technology

Chamber is designed to fit through a standard door.

Front loading system

Easy to load test samples in a wide range of shapes and sizes.

Fully automatic operation

No manual intervention required during the tests

Atomised spray

Easily accessible salt spray atomizer(s) in transparent hard-wearing acrylic, for ease of maintenance.

Plug & Play

The Ascott iP test chambers can be pre-programmed for test standards in the factory, they are very easy to programme and start running.

Large Memory

The operating software has a very large capacity for the creation of complex multi-step test programmes, so that the widest possible range of test profiles can be accommodated. (iP only)

Touchscreen Controller

Ergonomically positioned control unit for convenient and intuitive operation. Full-colour touchscreen interface with multi-language function and on-screen graphic of chamber temperatures.

Low loading threshold

Low loading threshold for loading and unloading samples into the chamber

Dry seal gasket

Dry seal gasket prevents wetting operator’s clothes, etc

Salt solution reservoir

One 115L salt solution tank is provided for ease of filling and cleaning, one tank for the standard atomiser. All reservoirs incorporate a transparent graduated sight glass for ease of monitoring the solution level inside. During salt spray testing, the salt solution (brine) is drawn from this reservoir by the chamber peristaltic pump, via a primary filter unit which removes any large undissolved salt crystals or other debris.

Pneumatic canopy ram

Timed canopy lock and purge of the chamber interior with fresh air after testing and before the chamber is opened, preventing corrosive salt fog escaping.

Air distribution bar

For purging and the air drying function. (iP only)

Well-designed test room

Chamber designed with angled interior roof to avoid condensation droplets falling onto samples below.

Chamber Connection

The following connections can be found on the back of the chamber: Mains power lead, compressed air connection, drain connection, exhaust and water inlet.

Salt solution pump and flow meter

During salt spray testing, the peristaltic pump draws salt water into the chamber from the separate salt solution tank, so avoiding the need for a gravity fed system. This salt water is delivered, via a graduated flowmeter, to the salt spray atomiser inside the chamber. The speed of the pump is fully adjustable by the user, to allow the quantity of salt solution atomised and hence the fall-out rate, to be precisely controlled.

Standard Salt Spray Chamber

The standard salt spray chamber is designed for continuous salt spray tests, such as ASTM B117, ISO 9227, JIS Z 2371 etc. It can also be used with pH neutral salt solutions (NSS) or test solutions acidified by the addition of Acetic Acid (ASS) or Cupric Acid (CASS).

The standard version of the chamber offers a practical set of features designed for ease of use and operational efficiency. A 3.5’’ full-colour touchscreen controller with built-in language selection ensures intuitive operation. The pneumatically operated “Easy Open” canopy simplifies access, while the low loading threshold makes handling test specimens more convenient. A dry seal gasket prevents operator clothing from getting wet during opening. The canopy colour can be selected free of charge to suit individual preferences. An interior viewing window provides clear visibility of the test area. For added safety, the chamber interior is purged with compressed air before opening. A large-capacity, separate salt solution reservoir completes the standard equipment package.

Premium Salt Spray Chamber

The Premium salt spray chamber can perform the same basic salt spray tests as Standard models, but in addition it is equipped with extra features which enable them to undertake ‘modified’ tests such as ASTM G85 where salt spray is usually combined with one other function, in a two-part cycle. For example: salt spray and condensation humidity, or salt spray and drying.

The premium chambers come equipped with an enhanced feature set tailored to meet demanding testing requirements. At the core is an upgraded 7’’ full-colour touchscreen controller with built-in language selection and large memory capacity, ensuring intuitive operation. The chamber is fully compatible with the proven S!MPATI® control software from Weiss Technik GmbH and includes an RJ45 communication port, allowing for wired or wireless integration into a local area network (LAN) – ideal for data logging and remote programming via a PC using optional software (Ref ACC121). An integrated titanium immersion heater enables precise condensate humidity testing. Additionally, the ambient drying function allows the canopy to be opened or closed during testing, exposing samples to the room’s ambient conditions. The equipment is rounded off with an on/off function featuring temperature control for spray and no-spray applications.

Cyclic Corrosion Test Chamber

The Cyclic corrosion chamber is designed to be flexible enough to comply with as many different CCT specifications as possible. As standard the chamber comes with the ability to create 6 distinct climates: Salt spray, Condensation humidity (wetting), Forced air drying, Temperature only, Ambient air drying, Controlled humidity.

The test chambers offers user-adjustable, controlled humidity of up to 94% relative humidity (RH) under temperature-regulated conditions ranging from ambient temperature to +60 °C (+140 °F). Temperature and humidity values can be conveniently monitored via SCADA systems using OPC-UA. An integrated interior viewing window allows for visual inspection of the test specimen—unless the refrigeration option has been selected. In addition, a wide range of optional accessories is available to flexibly extend the chamber’s testing capabilities.

Installation requirements

Water: Deionized/distilled for topping up air saturator and making salt solution. Air saturator requires a continuous water connection 2.5-5.0 bar (36-72 psi). If ACC42 is ordered the continuous water supply must be pressuried 4.0 – 5.0 bar (58-72 psi). If air saturator is topped up manually option ACC66 must be ordered.
Air: Clean dry & oil free, 4.0 to 6.0 bar (58-87psi) with 440 Ltrs (15.5cu.ft) per minute flow.
Exhaust: 3m (10ft) exhaust pipe is required which should be terminated outside building (see accessory ACC58).
Drain: 3m (10ft) drain pipe is required which should be terminated into floor level drain (see accessory ACC58).
Operating environment conditions: Indoors, with ambient maintained at +18 to +23°C (+64 to 73°F), 85% max RH (non-condensing).
