The Vindur Top air cooling unit from Weiss Technik has proven itself in operating theatres and is now available for doctor's surgeries. It greatly reduces the amount of bacteria, viruses and moulds that could potentially contaminate the air. Its automatic thermal disinfection reliably prevents the formation of a biofilm in the unit.
Waves of infections unsettle patients and create awareness of the germ load in the air they breathe. The air-cooling unit from air-conditioning specialist Weiss Technik has been tried and tested in clinics and significantly improves the air quality in doctors' surgeries. Vindur Top is equipped with two-stage fine filtration that captures particles down to a size of 1 µm. This allows the device to remove not only bacteria and fine dust but also viruses from the air we breathe. The unit has an efficiency of at least 50 % at the intake and at least 80 % at the outlet. This means: Vindur Top removes at least 90 % of pollutants from the room air with every cycle.
The air cooling unit was specially developed for the strict regulations that apply to room air conditioning systems in the healthcare sector. This means that Vindur Top complies with DIN 1946-4 and VDI Guideline 6022. The DIN standard was only extended in September 2018 to include rules for infection control. The regulations also apply to patient rooms, examination and recovery rooms as well as CT and MRI control rooms (room class II). VDI 6022 also regulates the hygiene quality at workplaces, sports facilities and break rooms as well as sales and event spaces. With Vindur Top, Weiss Technik MediClean is the first company worldwide to offer a circulating air cooling unit that reliably fulfils the new requirements of DIN 1946-4 and VDI 6022.
Vindur Top ensures particularly effective and safe air purification. For example, UV lamps are installed in the unit at the HEPA filter to kill bacteria and viruses in the filter. The inner sheets are coated with silver ions, which also reduces exposure to microorganisms. An important feature of cleaning the filter is the automatic thermal disinfection. Surfaces that are still damp favour strong microbial growth through so-called biofilm, especially during unit downtimes. Condensate is formed when the air cools down and then it becomes a breeding ground for bacteria and mould. When the unit is put back into operation, these can be distributed throughout the room. The automatic disinfection function regularly heats the heat exchanger and condensate tray to 70 °C to evaporate the condensate water. This reliably prevents germs from accumulating in the filter. Vindur Top with its sophisticated hygiene concept is therefore an effective filter for practice rooms.
The air cooling unit can either be mounted on a ceiling or installed in a suspended ceiling. It has an energy-efficient EC fan and a condensate pump. Air volume and temperature can be easily adjusted via a control unit in the room or a touch display. In addition, maintenance is simple and time-saving. Due to the sophisticated design of the unit, all components are easily accessible, easy to clean and can be replaced with little effort.
